Lailee Mussivand, RAc
As a classically-trained Acupuncturist, I provide evidence-based medical acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments for all non-emergency conditions. This is a fascinating field to work in and I am forever studying, learning and growing as a practitioner. My passion is helping people feel better.
Acupuncture is a very relaxing form of medicine. I use the highest grade needles and expert techniques, making the actual needling aspect of your healing process nothing to worry about. If you are afraid of needles, I will help ease your fear.
I graduated from the Beijing University affiliated Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine. I studied the flagship Doctor of Acupuncture program and completed my internship at the renowned Taiwan International Medical Training Clinic in Taipei City Hospital. It was a unique and amazing experience to see the cutting edge of medicine, mixing both Eastern and Western traditions for optimal patient care. I also hold a BA (Hons) in Political Science with a concentration in Political Theory from Carleton University.
With TCMs holistic approach to medicine, each treatment is completely individualized. After a detailed assessment, an acupuncture session with me may include: acupuncture, acupressure, fire cupping, slide cupping, electro-acupuncture, infrared heat therapy, therapeutic movement techniques, posture & therapeutic yoga pose recommendations for healing, education for home self-care, topical application of balm, ointments, gels, or essential oils, jade massage, gua sha, tuina, ear seeds, moxabustion, holistic nutritional therapy/using food as medicine, meditation, breath work, and lifestyle recommendations.
Acupuncture is one of the worlds oldest forms of medicine, originating in China and evolving over thousands of years. Traditional Chinese Medicine is rooted in the ancient philosophy of Taoism and is estimated to be between 2,500 – 5,000 years old. Because it is a complete body of medicine, it has been used to treat a full-range of health care problems. TCM believes in “curing the root” of a disease and not merely in treating its symptoms. Professional Acupuncturists use a variety of mind and body practices to treat or prevent health problems.
