As the holiday season approaches, it’s easy to feel the excitement building around us. It is a magical time of year that gives us a reason to connect with those we have lost touch with, hosting family and friends, and revelling in the holiday spirit. It seems though that no matter how you celebrate it has become a season filled with pressure. It’s also a time to reflect on how we prioritize, and what the needs in our lives are versus our wants.
Not everyone has the luxury or means to do this. While we are trying to decide on what gifts will please our family, some people in our community may not have any family to celebrate with, may not have the extra money needed to indulge in wants, and may barely be able to fulfil their needs. In the Centretown community we are very aware of this, as we have many people in our community who don’t even have a warm bed to sleep in each night. There are so many ways to reach out and help those in need find some holiday joy, sharing a kind holiday wish and some eye contact for someone needing some kind of connection, sharing your extra winter mitts, hats or coats, buying a warm lunch for someone with a hungry tummy, or donating to local charities who support our neighbours in need. We at Sage Wellness have decided this year to sponsor three Christmas Hampers for families in our Centretown community. We are sponsoring our hamper through The Caring and Sharing Exchange. If you want to know more about how to sponsor a hamper from you and your family, you can learn more about it here.
We are calling on our Sage community to support us in our venture! The next time you are in for your treatment, please give us your spare change, because every little bit adds up. With your support we will be able to provide some pantry supplies for a warm Christmas dinner, as well as something special for each family member to enjoy this holiday season. This is our first time sponsoring Christmas hampers and we will be sure to let you know how our experience is.
