This post is brought to you by our Certified Athletic Therapist Phoebe!

Certified Athletic Therapists are experts at injury assessment and rehabilitation. The main focus of athletic therapy is to return athletes back to their sport or activity. That’s not to say this treatment is specifically for athletes, but it provides higher caliber and more in depth treatment plans for your benefit. There is always room for improvement in whatever you’re doing. Though there are no gold medals for sitting at a desk all day, that’s not to say you can’t do it better!

Athletic therapists are experts on human biomechanics and therefore have a superior understanding of how the body should be moving during activity. With this knowledge, I can tailor your treatment plans and rehab to help you reach your goals, whether they are day to day physical functionality or high performance activity. I will not be giving you generic exercises that pose no challenge; you will be given a program tailored to you and your body. Many injuries are caused by a violent incident or mistreatment of your body over a long period of time, and as such will not just be fixed by a simple manual treatment. I can give you the tools needed to help you get better, meaning you must put in a certain amount of effort yourself. Not to deter you from seeking my treatment, but oftentimes patients may feel disappointed with a lack of progress. One of the reasons for this is unrealistic expectations that injuries can be fixed without putting in the effort needed to get better. One of my goals as a practitioner is to tear down obstacles you may be facing on the road to living an active lifestyle. I do this by determining your interests and again develop the rehab plan to those interests.

You can expect manual treatment during a session since it is an integral part of rehab. Techniques used include soft tissue release to massage out your tight muscles, joint mobilizations to get your body moving better and fascial release (connective tissue around muscles/joints). These techniques will facilitate your prescribed rehab program, and help relieve acute symptoms. Book an appointment with me today and I can work with you to make you feel better and reach your peak performance.
